Tricolore shelving forms part of a stunning new furniture series for children. The shelving is connected and available in two basic designs: level or tilted metal shelves that can be used in a variety of combinations. Complimenting the shelving are fun browser tables and chairs. All are available in three vibrant colors – orange, pistachio green and lavender blue. BCI Library Shelving & Furniture Featured At North Haven High School

When the students arrived at their new 245,000 sq ft school in September of 2005, they found an environment not typical of the average high school. Their new building was a study in sustainable design with features including a rooftop garden over the first-floor cafeteria and extensive natural lighting.

The second floor Media Center was no different. With windows lining the entrance corridor looking out over the well manicured garden on one side and an accessible patio on the other, it was important that the furnishings did not overpower this bright, open space.

Longo provided a simple wood and steel shelving system with a step down configuration allowing clear sight lines from all areas of the library. The clean and simple lines of the shelving offered the perfect backdrop to the computer stations with their perforated steel side screens. The progressive design of computer stations helped to make technology a focal point of room.

BCI Library Shelving & Furniture Featured at Teaneck High School

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Project:            Teaneck High School Media Center – Teaneck, NJ

Architect:          DMR Architects – Hasbrouck Heights, NJ  http://www.dmrarchitects.com/

BCI Dealer:      Longo Associates http://www.longolibraries.com/

Constructed in the early 1920’s, the three-story brick masonry building approximately 228,000 sq ft needed a comprehensive renovation to meet the district’s educational goals for the 21st Century. The school’s existing educational programs, as well as physical space requirements, were no longer in compliance with the district’s educational goals. The primary challenge of this project was the need to develop a phasing plan that would allow comprehensive renovation throughout the school with minimal interruption to school activities.

Working in close collaboration with the district and DMR, Longo conducted an extensive space utilization and programming study of the existing library. Based on the result of this study, Longo developed a short-term construction plan which included the complete interior renovation consisting of rearranging existing office walls, new lighting, and carpeting and an entirely new furniture layout.

Next Longo began the process of selecting new furniture for the Library. The district and DMR wanted to find the perfect blend of contemporary designs with a flare toward high-tech without giving up any functionality. Longo responded by providing a perfect blend of custom furnishings and standard products. By mixing a variety of manufacturers and materials such as frosted glass, warm maple wood and the high tech look of perforated steel the result was a complete success!
